Board of Governors

The St. Columba's Nursery School Board of Governors is empowered by the Vestry of St. Columba's Church to oversee the business of the Nursery School and to safeguard the School's mission. The Board is composed of up to fifteen voting and four ex officio members including the Rector and Wardens and the School's Director.


Meet our 2018-19 Board

Jim Barnett (Treasurer) has been a parishioner at St. Columba’s since 2000. He is a director of strategic intelligence analysis at AARP. and holds a master’s degree in nonprofit management from George Washington University. He lives in American University Park with his wife Susanna and two children, both graduates of St. Columba’s Nursery School. He has served on the Board of Governors since September 2013.

David Burton, a long-time resident of AU Park, joined the Board in 2015. He is married to Anne Chrun and their two children attended St. Columba’s Nursery school. Currently a consultant, he was formerly Director of the International Monetary Fund’s Asia and Pacific Department and Chairman of the Investment Committee for the IMF’s pension fund.

Charlotte Hudson (Chair)

Shane Kramer joined the Board of Governors in 2015.  He and his wife, Maureen, have been St. Columba's parishioners since 2004 and all three of their children are Nursery School alumni.  Shane is an employee benefits attorney in Washington, D.C. and received a B.A. from the University of Virginia, a J.D. from Washington and Lee University, and an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University.

Katy Harvey (Secretary) has served on the Board of Governors since 2016.  She is the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid at National Presbyterian School and has enjoyed receiving many graduates of SCNS over her 15 years at NPS.  She received her B.A. from Duke University.  She and her husband have three children.
