Amy Walter began teaching at St. Columba’s in 2024. After earning an MBA, she spent 10 years as a consultant working to improve educational access and outcomes for children in the U.S., Latin America and the Caribbean, and Madagascar. Working on early childhood projects while parenting her own young child prompted her to make a career change, pursue a MS in Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum, and become a teacher! She taught Pre-K and Kindergarten in DC Public Schools for seven years. She loves nurturing young children as they learn to become members of a kind and thriving community. She also loves their sense of delight and wonder as they explore the world. Children have taught her to be more present and compassionate. Ms. Walter’s favorite children’s books are “Zen Shorts” and “The Snail and the Whale”. Originally from New York City, she was born on January 24th.
